1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
As we sleep in the darkness, and we wake up and the light is turned on, it takes a moment before our eyes can get adjusted. This is not due to a problem with the light, but because we have been in darkness longer than we have been in the light. It is easier to sleep , easier to stumble, and to sink into doubt in darkness. John 11:10 But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.
Notice the choice in our verse “if.” God will not force the light upon us, but will give it and the choice is ours if we will walk in it.
The Lord shows us the end results of obedience to the light. We cannot use the excuse of not knowing where the light is. John 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. Colossians 2:6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him.
Everyone when getting up from sleep knows where the light switch is, because we have accessed it before. The same if we are saved, we have accessed the LIGHT, and we know exactly where He is now. Maybe we have been in walking in darkness, but now want to get adjusted back to the light? Fellowship can be restored because “the BLOOD of JESUS CHRIST His Son CLEANSETH us from ALL sin.
